What New Hampshire offers homeschool families of children with disabilities or learning differences — special-needs scholarships, evaluations and services — from our New Hampshire guide and articles.
Public school classes, sports, driver's licenses and special education
Special education: New Hampshire's rules say children with disabilities in home education under RSA 193-A are not considered private school children (Ed 1112.03). Ask your district what evaluations and services it offers. For EFA families, the notice in the EFA application explains that using an EFA at a nonpublic school is a parental placement under IDEA with no individual right to a free appropriate public education there. A child with a disability who uses an EFA to enroll in public school programs under RSA 194-F:2, II(d) remains entitled to one from the resident district (Ed 805.01). Districts include children with disabilities placed by their parents in private nonprofit schools in their equitable services (Ed 803.03). A district evaluation can also qualify an EFA student for special education differentiated aid at no cost (Ed 804.01).
